Wrestlers to compete at the final ranking tournament of the year

The final ranking tournament of the year in wrestling will get underway tomorrow in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

A total of 21 Azerbaijani wrestlers will compete at the fourth ranking tournament of the season.

The tournament, which will run through July 19, will begin with the freestyle wrestling competitions. Under the guidance of head coach Khetag Gazyumov, senior coach Jabrayil Hasanov and coaches Arif Abdullayev, Taimuraz Kokoyev and Sharif Sharifov, Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg), Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg), Rashid Babazade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Turan Bayramov (74 kg), Jabrayil Hajiyev (79 kg), Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg), Ali Tsokayev (92 kg), Osman Nurmagomedov (97 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) will test their strength at the prestigious event.

The women’s wrestling competitions will follow. Under the guidance of coach Hasrat MammadYarov, Nargiz Samadova and Asmar Jankurtaran (both 53 kg), Gultakin Shirinova (55 kg), Jala Aliyeva (57 kg), Birgul Soltanova (65 kg) and Nigar Mirzazade (68 kg) will aim for success.

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Azerbaijan will be represented by Elmir Aliyev (60 kg), Murad Mammadov and Sakit Guliyev (both 63 kg), Muhammad Shukurzada (67 kg) and Arif Niftullayev (97 kg). The coaching staff includes senior coach Nureddin Rajabov and coach Rovshan Bayramov.

The preliminary bouts will begin at 12:30 PM Baku time each day, while the medal bouts will start at 8:00 PM.

I-S category referee Asif Shiraliyev will officiate at the ranking tournament.
