Two more bronze medals at the European championship

The U20 European Wrestling Championships are continuing in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

On the third day of the competition, Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestling team won two more medals.

Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) defeated Romania’s Dragos Draga 6-1, while Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) beat Hungary’s Szabolcs Szina 8-0 to claim bronze medals.

Roman Karimov (67 kg) dominated Lithuania’s Eimantas Andriuska (9-0) and Moldova’s Maxim Damashin (10-0) in the repechage bouts. However, our compatriot lost 2-6 to Russia’s Amir Sovmiz in the bronze-medal bout and finished fifth.

Thus, Azerbaijan concluded its campaign in the Greco-Roman wrestling competition at the continental championship with one gold, two silver and two bronze medals. It should be recalled that a day earlier, Emin Javadli (55 kg) won gold, while Javidan Nehmatov (77 kg) and Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg) claimed silver medals.
