Renovated Shahdag Wrestling Club hall opens in Guba

The wrestling hall of the Shahdag Wrestling Club in Guba, where Greco-Roman wrestling training sessions are held, has undergone major renovations and has been reopened.

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation presented the club with a modern wrestling mat. In this regard, the renovated hall was inspected.

The inspection was attended by Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation Vice Presidents and Olympic champions Namig Abdullayev and Farid Mansurov, AWF Secretary General Parvin Piriev, Deputy Head of the Guba District Executive Authority Shahin Israfilov, Head of a department at the Executive Authority Anar Mammadov, and Head of the Guba-Khachmaz Regional Youth and Sports Department Gumru Mammadova.

Shahdag Wrestling Club Greco-Roman wrestling coach Musa Mirzeyev showed the guests the facilities at the hall and provided detailed information about the athletes’ training process and the club’s activities.

During the meeting, discussions were held on further developing wrestling traditions in Guba, as well as on steps to launch freestyle and women’s wrestling sections alongside Greco-Roman wrestling.

It was noted that the renovated hall will make an important contribution to improving the training level of young wrestlers, increasing the popularity of wrestling in the region and nurturing promising athletes.
