Three Azerbaijani wrestlers reach the European championship finals

The U20 European Wrestling Championships have got underway in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
On the opening day of the competition, finalists in the 55 kg, 63 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg and 130 kg weight categories of Greco-Roman wrestling were determined. Azerbaijan had a successful start to the championship.
Emin Javadli (55 kg) dominated his opponents at the Skopje Arena. He defeated Turkey’s Denizhan Ogun (5-1), Germany’s Lenny Voerner (16-5) and Greece’s Vasileios Papageorgiou (9-0) to reach the final. Emin will face Armenia’s Edgar Petrosyan in tomorrow’s decisive bout.
Tural Ahmadov (63 kg) lost to Georgia’s Giorgi Tchikaidze (0-9) in the round of 16.
Javidan Nehmatov (77 kg) secured his place in the final after defeating Finland’s Luka Kayanne (2-0), Russia’s Nazar Berkovsky (8-0) and Turkey’s Alkan Akara (3-1). Our representative will face Armenia’s Samvel Terteryan in the final.
Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg) made a confident start to the competition. He first defeated Germany’s Anton Buchholtz (9-0), then Ukraine’s Vladyslav Solodchuk (11-9), before beating Israel’s Itzhak Nemsadze (9-0) in the semifinal to reach the final. Orkhan will compete against Russia’s Mikhail Shkarin for the title tomorrow.
Museyi-Kazim Huseyn (130 kg), who entered the competition at the quarterfinal stage, defeated Armenia’s Lyova Shukhyani 2-1 to advance to the semifinals. On his way to the final, our representative lost 0-9 to Ukraine’s Ivan Yankovskyi and will compete for the bronze medal tomorrow. In the bronze-medal bout, our wrestler will face Turkey’s Uzeir Bostan.
