European championship test for young wrestlers

The U20 European Wrestling Championships will be held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, from July 6 to 12.

The Greco-Roman wrestling team will open Azerbaijan’s campaign at the continental championship. Under the guidance of senior coach Turaj Huseynli and coaches Emin Ahmadov, Hasan Aliyev and Elvin Mursaliyev, Emin Javadli (55 kg), Ayhan Javadov (60 kg), Tural Ahmadov (63 kg), Roman Karimov (67 kg), Kamran Rajabli (72 kg), Javidan Nehmatov (77 kg), Elmin Aliyev (82 kg), Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg), Mahir Gurbanli (97 kg) and Museyi-Kazim Huseyn (130 kg) will compete at the Skopje Arena.

The women’s wrestling events will follow. Azerbaijan will be represented by Nazrin Ahmadli (50 kg), Esra Mammadli (53 kg), Garatel Guliyeva (55 kg), Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) and Zahra Karimzade (72 kg), under the guidance of acting head coach Togrul Asgarov and senior coach Aghahuseyn Mustafayev.

In the final part of the competition, Muhammad Ismayilov (57 kg), Jamal Abbasov (61 kg), Bashir Verdiyev (65 kg), Haji Karimov (70 kg), Eljan Ismayilzade (74 kg), Eljan Ismayilzade (79 kg), Mahammad Abbaszade (86 kg), Huseyn Mammadtaghizade (92 kg), Farhad Suleymanli (97 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) will seek success under the guidance of senior coach Ashraf Aliyev and coaches Rovshan Hajiyev, Nazim Alijanov and Asgarhan Novruzov.

The daytime session bouts at Skopje Arena will begin at 12:30 Baku time, while the evening session will start at 20:00.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan will be represented by Category I referees Ali Babayev and Habib Nurulu at the European Championships.
