Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation launches new project

Wrestling” project brings renowned wrestling figures together with schoolchildren at educational institutions. The first meeting was held at Secondary School No. 7 in Sumgayit, operating under the Absheron-Khizi Regional Education Department, with the participation of Olympic and two-time world champion, AWF and NOC Vice President Farid Mansurov.

In the opening part of the event, the school’s principal, Nurana Humbatova, emphasized the important role of sport in raising a healthy, patriotic and active younger generation, and expressed her gratitude to the organizers of the project.

A video highlighting Farid Mansurov’s sporting career was then presented. Afterwards, the Olympic champion shared his success story and spoke about the challenges he faced and the achievements he attained throughout his career. He advised students to be goal-oriented, constantly work on self-improvement and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Mansurov particularly stressed the importance of education, participation in sports and proper nutrition.

As part of the meeting, a question-and-answer session was held with the participation of the students. The schoolchildren asked the guest various questions and listened to his advice. One of the most engaging parts of the event was an intellectual quiz organized via the Kahoot platform. The winners, as well as the authors of the most interesting questions, were awarded gifts by the AWF.

At the end of the event, an autograph session featuring the Olympic champion was held. The students received commemorative autographs and took a group photo with him.

It should be noted that the main objectives of the project are to promote a healthy lifestyle among schoolchildren, increase interest in the sport of wrestling, encourage national sporting values, and engage children and teenagers in physical activity.
