AGF organizes media tour to Shamakhi on the occasion of World Wrestling Day

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF) organized a media tour to Shamakhi on the occasion of May 23 – World Wrestling Day.

Within the framework of the visit, Chairman of the AGF Refereeing Committee Asif Shiraliyev met with media representatives and provided detailed information about the history of wrestling, its styles, and the main rules of the sport. He also clarified recent innovations adopted in the international arena, the scoring system, and current refereeing issues, while answering questions of interest to journalists.

As part of the event held to promote and encourage wrestling, the presentation of the book “International Wrestling Rules,” prepared on the initiative of Category I referee Ali Babayev, also took place. The publication, which contains the main wrestling rules and essential information, is planned to be printed in a wider circulation in the future and distributed among coaches working in various clubs and sports societies.

During the event, entertaining wrestling-themed competitions were organized among media representatives, and the winners were awarded prizes.

Following the seminar, journalists visited a wrestling hall operating in Shamakhi with the support of the AGF and became familiar with the conditions created there. Media representatives observed the training process and exchanged views with coaches and athletes.

The main purpose of the media tour was to increase journalists’ knowledge about wrestling, strengthen awareness in this field, and contribute to the broader promotion of wrestling among the public.
