Five medals on the final day of the European championships

The U15 European Wrestling Championships held in Samokov, Bulgaria have come to an end.

On the final day of competition, five of our freestyle wrestlers stepped onto the podium.

Yusif Abdullayev (38 kg), who had won all of his previous bouts before the final ahead of schedule, remained true to his tradition in the decisive match as well. Our compatriot defeated Rezi Iobidze by technical superiority (10:0) to become European champion.

Elman Ismayilov (41 kg) lost to Bulgaria’s Simeon Velikov 4:15 in the final and claimed the silver medal.

Mahammad Karimov (44 kg) won the bronze medal after defeating Belarus’ Aleksandr Khamov by technical superiority (16:6).

Adam Guliyev (52 kg) lost to Russia’s Badruddin Magomedov 7:9 in the final and finished the tournament in second place.

Meanwhile, Yusif Huseynov (62 kg) defeated Russia’s Zaur Nazhmudinov 5:0 in the bronze medal bout.

As a result, our freestyle wrestling team won a total of six medals at the continental championships. It should be recalled that Elvin Najafzada (85 kg) climbed to the top step of the podium yesterday.
