Another European championship begins in Samokov

The next European Wrestling Championships will kick off tomorrow in Samokov, Bulgaria.

Following the U17 age group competition, the U15 European Championships will also be held at the same venue. During the prestigious event, which will continue until May 24, members of our national teams in all three wrestling styles will represent Azerbaijan.

The Greco-Roman wrestling team includes Huseyn Amrahli (38 kg), Khudayar Karimov (41 kg), Pasha Aslan (44 kg), Punhan Shahmarov (48 kg), Rasul Ahmadli (52 kg), Sadiq Valizadeh (57 kg), Raul Mammadzadeh (62 kg), Ibrahim Mammadzadeh (68 kg), Suleyman Verdiyev (75 kg), and Fikrat Bakhshaliyev (85 kg). They will compete under the guidance of senior coach Taleh Mammadov and coaches Ilham Vezirov, Azad Aliyev, and Fuad Aydinli.

In the women’s competition, Ulviyya Musayeva (33 kg), Gulay Khasmammadova (36 kg), Nargiz Jafarzadeh (39 kg), Leyla Asgarova (42 kg), Madina Karimova (46 kg), Gunel Karimli (50 kg), Laman Aliyeva (54 kg), Zarifa Alizadeh (58 kg), Aylin Hasanli (62 kg), and Fatima Gaygiyeva (66 kg) will compete under the leadership of senior coach Maria Stadnik and coaches Rovshan Umudov and Solmaz Adilova.

Meanwhile, freestyle wrestlers Yusif Abdullayev (38 kg), Elman Ismayilov (41 kg), Mahammad Karimov (44 kg), Ali Baloghlanov (48 kg), Adam Guliyev (52 kg), Yilmaz Samadov (57 kg), Yusif Huseynov (62 kg), Yusif Badalov (68 kg), Khayal Shukurlu (75 kg), and Elvin Najafzadeh (85 kg) will aim for success under the guidance of senior coach Namiq Guliyev and coaches Elshad Allahverdiyev, Khagan Suleymanov, and Emin Azizov.

At the U15 European Championships, alongside our international referees Sevinj Yusibova and Samil Fattayev, national-category referee Nihad Muradov will also officiate the matches.
