Ali Javadli: “My main goal is to become world champion in Baku”
May 15, 2026
Our U17 Greco-Roman wrestling team finished the European Championships with six medals.
Ali Javadli (45 kg), who stood on the top step of the podium at the continental championships held in Samokov, Bulgaria, shared his impressions:
“I am very happy to become European champion. I started the tournament successfully. My first bout was against a Bulgarian wrestler, and I advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8:0 victory. In the quarterfinals, I defeated the representative of Armenia with a score of 7:1. In the semifinals, I beat a Georgian wrestler 7:6. In the final, I defeated a Russian athlete 9:1 and won the gold medal. In the final, I built my wrestling in an attacking style. From the beginning of the match, I took the initiative and secured the victory by gaining an advantage in the par terre position. I dedicate this victory to my personal coach, Shamkhal Agamaliyev, and to my father. My main goal is also to win the gold medal at the World Championships to be held in Baku.”
