European Championship starts with 2 silver and 1 bronze medal

The U17 European Wrestling Championships continue in Samokov, Bulgaria.
On the second day of competition, the first medalists in Greco-Roman wrestling were determined.
Omar Salmanov (48 kg) faced Russia’s Artyom Tkachenko in the final. Our wrestler lost the bout 1-5 and claimed the silver medal.
Gurban Majnunov (55 kg) also met a Russian opponent in the decisive match. In a tense contest against Edem Payziyev, Gurban suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat and became the European silver medalist.
Orkhan Habibli (65 kg) defeated Greece’s Dionysios Bouloutidis in the repechage round and then earned a dominant 9-0 victory over Ukraine’s Oleksandr Venets in the bronze medal match to secure third place on the podium.
Thus, our national team won 2 silver and 1 bronze medal on the second day of competition.
