Rashad and Islam win bronze medals at the European Championship

The European Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

On the second day of competition, two of our Greco-Roman wrestlers stepped onto the podium.

Rashad Mammadov defeated Turkey’s Omer Recep with technical superiority (8:0) to claim the bronze medal.

Islam Abbasov (87 kg) repeated the same result. Our experienced wrestler overcame Turkey’s Dogan Kaya in the decisive bout – 5:1. With this victory, Islam increased the number of medals he has won at the senior European Championships to five (1 silver, 4 bronze).

Beka Kandelaki (130 kg), in the bronze medal match, lost to Ukraine’s Mykhailo Vyshnivetskyi with a score of 1:3 and finished in 5th place.
