Two of our wrestlers reach the final of the U23 European championships

The U23 European Wrestling Championships have started in the city of Zrenjanin, Serbia.

On the first competition day, freestyle wrestlers competing in the 57, 65, 70, 79 and 97 kg weight categories stepped onto the mat.

Starting his campaign from the quarterfinals, Vasif Baghirov (57 kg) defeated France’s Rasul Galburayev by fall and advanced to the semifinals. He then overcame Georgia’s Nikoloz Botchorishvili with a score of 6:2. Baghirov will face Russia’s Adayan Ondar in the final tomorrow.

Musa Aghayev (65 kg) eliminated Italy’s Mattia Bientinesi ahead of time (10:0), but lost to Belarus’ Magomedkhan Magomedkhanov in the quarterfinals with a score of 4:7. Aghayev will wrestle Armenia’s Arman Musikian for the bronze medal.

Ramik Heybatov (70 kg) defeated Poland’s Daniel Kulczynski with a score of 9:4, but lost to Moldova’s Aleksandr Gaidarli in the quarterfinals (0:11). Heybatov will face Georgia’s Goga Otinashvili in the repechage bout.

Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79 kg) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Belarus’ Aleksandr Viarbitski (11:4) and Germany’s Marat Kardanov (6:2). He also proved stronger than Georgia’s Giorgi Gogritchiani (4:1). Amiraslanov will face Russia’s Ismail Khaniyev in the decisive final bout.

Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) defeated Armenia’s Gurgen Simonyan with a score of 6:2, but lost to Ukraine’s Ivan Primachenko in the semifinals by the same score. Aliyev will wrestle for the bronze medal against the winner of the bout between Davide Cossu (Italy) and Emirhan Kılıç (Turkey).
