Three Wrestling Halls Opened in Goychay

The establishment of new wrestling halls in the regions has gained significant momentum.

One of the districts where wrestling has recently gained popularity is Goychay. Three new wrestling halls have been inaugurated in the Central Aran region.

The opening ceremony was attended by Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) Nasimi Musayev, Director of Goychay Youth Sports Center Namet Shirinov, first-class referees Asif Shiraliyev and Natig Hajiyev, representatives from the Central Aran Regional Youth and Sports Department, and other officials.

In Goychay city, both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling halls have begun operations. The Greco-Roman wrestling hall on Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev Street, led by honorary coaches Namet Shirinov and Kamran Bakhishov, along with coaches Akbar Mammadli and Jalal Miriyev, currently trains 70 youth athletes. Meanwhile, the freestyle wrestling hall on Heydar Aliyev Avenue, under the guidance of coaches Niyazi Ahmadov, Kamran Nuriyev, and Joshgun Asgarli, serves 80 athletes regularly.

Additionally, the sports hall at School No. 1 in Bighir village has been dedicated to wrestling training. Here, honorary coaches Namet Shirinov and Kamran Bakhishov, along with coaches Khamran Seyidov, Akbar Mammadli, and Jalal Miriyev, are conducting Greco-Roman wrestling sessions, training over 130 young athletes in the discipline.

All three wrestling halls, equipped by the AWF, offer free training sessions, contributing significantly to the sport’s growing popularity in the region.

Notably, efforts to improve wrestling infrastructure across the regions will continue as part of the AWF’s ongoing initiatives.
