Our national team became European champions for the 4th time!

The freestyle wrestling competition at the U23 European Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, has concluded.

Our national team has become the European champion in the team category for the 4th time in a row with record results!

Our freestyle wrestlers, who won the title at the U23 European Championship for the first time in 2022, have been holding the top prize for 4 years now. This success was remarkable with record results. Our national team has renewed its record in terms of points, medals, and the number of finals.

Thus, our team won medals in 9 out of 10 weight classes in this competition for the first time. For the first time, 5 of our freestyle wrestlers wrestled in the final of the continental championship. Our team set a new point record by accumulating 169 points in the final standings. Our national team is 52 points ahead of its closest follower, Turkey. Ukraine took third place with 104 points.

It should be noted that Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) won gold, Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) and Farid Jabbarov (79 kg) won silver, and Rahman Imanov (57 kg), Murad Hagverdiyev (65 kg), Sadiq Mustafazadeh (92 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won bronze medals.
