Our wrestlers started the rating tournament with 5 medals.

The first rating tournament of the year started today in the Croatian capital Zagreb.
On the first day of competition, our national freestyle wrestling team won 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Islam Bazarganov (57 kg) defeated Serbian Azamat Tuskayev 3:1 in the 1/4 finals. Bazarganov won over Iranian Farhad Khateri with a complete advantage (10:0) in the semifinals. Islam lost to American Spencer Lee 2:6 in the finals and settled for the silver medal.
Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg) failed to beat Iranian Ibrahim Khari in the qualifying round – 0:10. Novruzov won over Moldovan Leomid Kolesnik with a complete advantage (14:3) in the consolation match. Nureddin disappointed Iranian Reza Momenizadeh in the bronze medal match – 8:4.
Ali Rahimzade (65 kg) eliminated Polish Hristof Bienkowski in the first round – 3:0. Rahimzade lost to American Josef McKenna in the 1/4 finals with a score of 4:7. Ali won the bronze medal match against Georgian Goga Otinashvili – 6:0.
Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) was stronger than Mexican Austin Gomez in the qualifying round – 9:5. Our compatriot did not give Polish Patrick Olenshin any chance in the 1/4 finals – 11:1. Heybatov showed his strength to Iranian Ibrahim Ilahikhuran in the semifinals – 10:5. Kenan also won a convincing victory over another member of the Iranian team, Sina Khalili, in the finals – 12:1.
Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) lost to Slovak Taymuraz Salkazanova in the 1/4 finals with a score of 0:5. Our wrestler lost to Georgian Giorgi Elbakidze in the bronze medal match with a score of 2:3.
Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) defeated Ukrainian Mukhammed Aliyev and Georgian Tariyel Gafrindashvili ahead of schedule (10:0). Dzhioyev also defeated American Trent Hidley with a score of 5:0 and entered the final. His opponent in the decisive match was American Zahid Valencia. Arseniy, who lost to his opponent with a score of 0:8, won the silver medal.
Tomorrow, Elnura Mammadova (55 kg), Abubakr Abakarov and Osman Nurmagomedov (both 92 kg) will take to the mat.
