Our three female wrestlers became third in the world

The women’s wrestling competition at the U-17 World Championship, held in Amman, Jordan, has come to an end.
Three of the six female wrestlers representing our country are returning home with medals.
Nəzrin Əhmədli (40 kg) advanced to the semifinals after achieving dominant victories over Canada’s Iraabir Such (12:1) and Turkey’s Liva Çelik (pin). However, in the semifinals, Əhmədli lost to Ukraine’s Kamila Kuchma (0:5). In the bronze medal match, she defeated Hungary’s Vivien Szentpál with a score of 11:6.
Fatimə Bayramova (53 kg) lost by pin to Belarusian Maria Khrushova (fall) in the qualifying round.
Günay Qurbanova (61 kg) won against Russia’s Zalina Totrova (fall) with a score of 9:4 and later defeated Jordan’s Maya Ishakata ahead of time (10:0), advancing to the semifinals. However, Günay was defeated by Japan’s Sae Noguchi in the semifinals with a score of 0:5. In the bronze medal match, Qurbanova overcame India’s Rajnita Rajnita with a pin.
Zəhra Kərimzadə (69 kg) could not withstand Ukraine’s Oleksandra Rybak in the 1/8 finals, losing 0:10. However, undeterred, Kərimzadə eliminated Kıjjibek Jarkinbayeva in the consolation round with a score of 3:1. Zəhra also showed great determination in the bronze medal match. She won against Turkey’s İlayda Cin with a score of 6:4, thanks to a 4-point move in the final seconds of the match.
Thus, our team concluded the World Championship with 3 bronze medals, making it the best result in terms of medals in the last 9 years. Under the guidance of head coach Rövşən Umudov and coach Həsrət Məmmədyarov, our national team finished in 6th place in the team standings, earning 55 points— the highest score in the history of our team’s participation in U-17 World Championships.
