Biography

Garib Aliyev was born on January 22, 1957 in Sumgayit. He has been engaged in coaching activities since 1978. Since 1980, he has been a Master of Sports of the USSR and the chief coach of Sumgayit city. In 1983, he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sports. Since 1994, he has been an international-class referee. In 1996, he was awarded the honorary titles of Honored Coach, and in 2012, Honored Physical Education and Sports Worker. In 2011-2013, he was the Chairman of the Referees’ Board of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation. In 2016, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the Progress Medal, and in 2017, the honorary title of Honored Physical Education and Sports Worker. Ruslan Eminov, Nuraddin Rajabov, Vusal Gurbanov, Husameddin Rajabov, Emil Bashirov, Islam Abbasov, Ali Sujayev and Elnur Huseynov, who were among the winners and prize-winners of the World and European Championships in various age groups, are the students of an experienced specialist. Since 2018, he has been re-appointed as the Chairman of the Referees’ Board of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation and is currently holding this position.
