Two of Our Wrestlers Advance to the European Championship Final

The U17 European Championship continues in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

Today, competitions in five weight categories of freestyle wrestling began.

Ravan Hasanov (48 kg) defeated Poland’s Przemyslaw Mrozek with a score of 7:0 and Slovakia’s Attila Hegedus by technical superiority (10:0) to reach the semifinals. In the semifinal, Ravan overcame Turkey’s Sadik Atesogullari with a score of 6:2. Hasanov will face Armenia’s Artak Agabekyan in the final tomorrow.

Ruslan Alizadeh (55 kg) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Slovakia’s Ivan Jaksik by technical superiority (10:0) and Belarus’s Gleb Pyatrov with a score of 4:2. In the semifinal, Ruslan demonstrated his strength against Armenia’s Armen Papikyan, winning 8:4. Alizadeh will wrestle Russia’s Makhach Abdullayev in the final.

Tunar Nasibov (65 kg) secured a narrow victory (7:6) over Romania’s Istvan Nagy in the first round but was overpowered by Ukraine’s Ivan Zalisko in the Round of 16 with a score of 1:12. As Zalisko advanced to the final, Tunar will compete in a consolation match against Georgia’s Saba Tkemaladze tomorrow.

Ali Hajiyev (80 kg) eliminated Armenia’s Avet Engoyan with a 4:3 victory but could not resist Great Britain’s Marshall Jones in the quarterfinal, losing 0:10.

Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) pinned Romania’s Sebastyan Brailescu and defeated Bulgaria’s Halil Sadakov 3:0 to reach the semifinals. However, Hakim fell short against Georgia’s Murtaz Bagdavadze in a close match, losing 0:2. Tomorrow, Taghiyev will wrestle for the bronze medal against the winner of the match between Hungary’s Gyorgy Juhasz and Latvia’s Ernests Stabins.
