Three Azerbaijani Wrestlers Reach U20 European Championship Finals

The U20 European Wrestling Championship has officially begun in Caorle, Italy.
On the opening day of competition, finalists were determined in five Greco-Roman weight categories. Azerbaijan secured three spots in the finals.
Turan Dashdamirov (55 kg) advanced to the final after hard-fought victories over Koba Karumidze (Georgia, 4:4 – last point), Levon Ghazaryan (Armenia, 1:1 – last point), and Nazariy Babinskyi (Ukraine, 3:1). He will face Ivan Solomin of Russia in the gold medal match.
Tural Ahmadov (63 kg) displayed dominant form with wins over Emanuele Polino (Italy, 8:0), Kristiyan Milenkov (Bulgaria, 4:0), Bende Olasz (Hungary, 3:1), and Marios Kapantais (Greece, 11:1). In the final, he will wrestle against Igor Punchenko of Russia.
Davud Mammadov (77 kg) secured his place in the final after defeating Constantin Tască (Moldova, 11:0), Yusuf Tosun (Türkiye, 3:3 – last point), and Samvel Terteryan (Armenia, 4:1). He will challenge Anri Putkaradze of Georgia in the gold medal bout.
In other weight classes, Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg) lost his opening bout to Gabriel Stana of Romania (1:4), while Mazaem Mardanov (130 kg) was narrowly defeated by Leonard Junger of Austria in the quarterfinals based on the last point criteria (1:1).
The finals are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
