Three Azerbaijani Wrestlers Reach European Championship Final

The U15 European Wrestling Championship in Caorle, Italy, continues with the third day marking the start of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition.

Huseyn Amrahli advanced to the final after defeating Italy’s Nicola Sedichina (9:0), Belarus’s Gleb Semyanenka (3:1), and Armenia’s Vardan Melkonyan (4:2).
His teammate, Khudayar Karimli, secured victories over Poland’s Kasper Bielewicz (11:0) and Bulgaria’s Ivan Aleksandrov (10:0) but lost in the quarterfinals to Russia’s Arsan Aliyev (0:9). Khudayar will compete in the repechage.

Rahib Ahmadov progressed to the semifinals with commanding wins against Slovakia’s Andrej Posvanka (10:0), Romania’s Ayan Istfan (11:0), and Poland’s Matvey Bezrukyi (9:0). However, he was defeated by Russia’s Soltan Yusupov (2:11) in the semifinals and will now wrestle for bronze.

Omar Salmanov reached the final after defeating Turkey’s Mustafa Guven (8:0), Lithuania’s Orestas Stakenas (8:0), and Russia’s Denis Sisikin (10:1).

Vakil Bashirov was pinned by Greece’s Nikolaos Zinis in the qualification round. As his opponent advanced to the final, Vakil will enter the repechage.

Huseyn Mustafazade won against Poland’s Stanislav Zoltowski (7:1), Turkey’s Mehmet Kaya (13:4), and Poland’s Jakub Skiwalkar (5:3) to advance to the semifinals. However, he lost to Georgia’s Gabriel Tavberidze (4:13) and will wrestle for bronze.
His teammate, Qurban Majnunov, was defeated in the Round of 16 by Romania’s Andrei Peleanu (3:4).

Ibrahim Mammadzada defeated Moldova’s Artem Popescu (9:0) but lost in the Round of 16 to Ukraine’s Oleksandr Venets (3:13).

Nadir Hasanov advanced to the semifinals with victories over Russia’s Adam Yashurkaev (4:3), Moldova’s Maxim Deliu (9:1), and Turkey’s Suleyman Shahinola (7:1). He was defeated by Armenia’s Pavel Nazaryan (1:10) and will now compete for bronze.

Ali Mammadov defeated France’s Nika Namoev (8:0) and Georgia’s Davit Mkheidze (9:1) but lost in the quarterfinals to Russia’s Yuri Ronzhin (0:7).

Ruslan Nuriyev reached the final with impressive victories over Georgia’s Mikheil Beridze (3:1), Turkey’s Mehmet Yildiz (2:0), and Russia’s Ashot Galoyan (3:2).

Zohrab Safarov defeated Hungary’s Zombor Simon (9:0) and Russia’s Aleksandr Karpekin (10:8) but was pinned in the quarterfinals by Belarus’s Dmitry Kisel. Zohrab will compete in the repechage.
His teammate, Mahammad Orujov, was pinned in the first round by Poland’s Lucjan Popecki.
