Six Azerbaijani Wrestlers Reach European Championship Finals

Today, the U15 European Wrestling Championship kicked off in Caorle, Italy.
On the first day of competition, all freestyle wrestling finalists were determined, with six Azerbaijani wrestlers advancing to the finals.

Sarxan Musayev eliminated Adis Berisha from Kosovo (10:0) and Russia’s Ramazan Shadov (7:4) but was narrowly defeated in the quarterfinals by Luka Dotiasvili from Georgia, 8:11.
Meanwhile, Javanşir Suleymanov, competing in the same weight class, defeated Hungarian Elian Veg (12:1), Bulgarian David Petrov (10:0), and Georgian Luka Dotiasvili (7:4) to secure a spot in the final. Javanşir will face Russia’s Abdulla Almazov for the gold medal.

Huseyn Rzazade triumphed over Russia’s Imran Bakayev (11:4), France’s Soslan Gugolayev (via fall), and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Boyko (8:2) to reach the final. Huseyn will wrestle Russia’s Nikita Kondrashov in the decisive match.

Ibrahim Hasanov dominated Ukraine’s Taras Petruk (10:0), Armenia’s Narek Dallakyan (10:0) and Aren Piruzyan (5:0), and Israel’s Tamir Shirmammadov (10:0) in the semifinals. Ibrahim must overcome Russia’s Kirill Kondrashov to retain his title.

Akbar Asgarov advanced to the final with dominant wins over Slovakia’s Mario Pihik (10:0), Kosovo’s Harun Shipkovica (12:0), Belgium’s Muslim Khatsiyev (11:0), and Russia’s Islam Qurbanov (14:4). Akbar will face Russia’s Amir Daurov in the final.
Another Azerbaijani in this weight category, Tunar Sultanzade, defeated Ireland’s Albert Pikulski (12:2), Turkey’s Muhammed Golha (via fall), and Ukraine’s Bohdan Kazakov (10:0). However, he lost in the semifinals to Russia’s Amir Daurov (0:11) and will now compete for bronze.

Eljan Hasanov defeated Georgia’s Nikoloz Baratashvili (3:0), Moldova’s Viktor Veverita (10:0), and Turkey’s Osman Kazimoglu (7:4) but fell to Armenia’s Erik Papikyan in the semifinals, 0:7.
Muraz Huseynov, also in this weight class, earned convincing victories over Hungary’s Donat Mora (via fall), Belarus’s Stanislav Piatrov (14:4), and Bulgaria’s Hristo Yanachkov (8:2). However, he was narrowly defeated by Armenia’s Tigran Kolotyan (5:5) in the semifinals. Both wrestlers will now compete for bronze.

Mahammad Hasanli defeated North Macedonia’s Dariyan Pavlev (7:2), Estonia’s Rain Tigas (15:4), and Ukraine’s Oleksandr Kulik (10:0) to secure a place in the final. Mahammad will face Romania’s Istvan Nagy for the gold medal.

Khail Shukurli secured early victories over Greece’s Konstantinos Mihailidis (10:0), Slovakia’s Alex Jaksik (10:0), and Ukraine’s Ihor Klindukh (12:1) but was defeated in the semifinals by Russia’s Muslim Balgaev, 0:4.

Elvin Najafzade defeated Italy’s Gabriele Micheli with a decisive 12:2 score but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Georgia’s Giorgi Gogiberidze, 8:12.

Elgun Karimli achieved dominant victories over Romania’s Dragos Margineantu (10:0), Russia’s Akhmed Laypanov (10:0), and Turkey’s Mehmet Bozkurt (13:2). Elgun will compete in the final against Georgia’s Mate Oniani.
