Ruslan Nurullayev became the U23 European Champion

The U23 European Wrestling Championship in Tirana, Albania, concluded today.
On the final competition day, two members of our Greco-Roman wrestling team participated in decisive matches.
Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg) faced Russian wrestler Danil Grigoryev in the final. After winning a bronze medal at last year’s similar competition in Baku, Ruslan climbed to the top of the podium this time. With a 3-2 victory, Nurullayev achieved his goal of hearing our national anthem for the fourth time in Albania.
Elmin Əliyev (82 kg), making his debut at the competition, fell short of his goal to win a medal. He lost 1-4 to Finland’s Jonni Sarkkinen in the bronze medal match.
