Our freestyle wrestling team is 5-time European champion!

The freestyle wrestling team has finished the European Championship in Slovakia with remarkable success.

At the continental championship, our team won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals, totaling 119 points to claim the title of European champions in the team standings.

Georgia (114 points) took second place, while Turkey (73 points) finished third.

With this victory, our freestyle wrestling team has now claimed the European championship title five times. Previously, they became the strongest team in Europe in 2009, 2017, 2022, and 2023.

To note, Giorgi Meşvildişvili (125 kg) won gold, Osman Nurmaqomedov (92 kg) took silver, and İslam Bazarqanov (57 kg), Əli Rəhimzadə (65 kg), Kənan Heybətov (70 kg), and Ağanəzər Novruzov (74 kg) earned bronze medals.
