New Wrestling Hall Opens in Shamakhi

With the support of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF), another state-of-the-art wrestling hall has been inaugurated.
The newly opened wrestling facility in Shamakhi city meets modern standards and aims to promote the sport in the region. The opening ceremony was attended by AWF Secretary General Nasimi Musayev, Head of Shamakhi Youth and Sports Department Shahmar Huseynov, representative of the Shamakhi District Executive Authority Ilgar Afandiyev, first-class referee and representative of Shamakhi city administrative district Asif Shiraliyev, U17 women’s wrestling national team head coach Hasrat Mammadov, and veteran wrestlers Hacibaba Shikhiev and Adalat Hamidov. Guests expressed confidence that this center would preserve and strengthen Shamakhi’s freestyle wrestling traditions.
The hall is located within the Shamakhi city stadium on Ashiq Mammadagha Street. It offers free freestyle wrestling training sessions for children, teenagers, and youth. Equipped with modern facilities, the wrestling center will also serve as one of the AWF’s regional training hubs.
The initiative aims to contribute to the development of wrestling in the region and provide a platform for discovering new talent.
Notably, the AWF plans to continue implementing similar projects to promote wrestling across the country.
