Nargiz and Ruzanna will wrestle for the bronze medal at the WC

The U-20 World Wrestling Championship continues in Pontevedra, Spain.

On the third day of the competition, three of our female wrestlers took to the mat.

Aysel Mammadzade (50 kg) was defeated 0-6 by Turkey’s Fatma Kızmaz in the round of 16.

Nargiz Samedova (55 kg) eliminated China’s Liuxuan Chen with a score of 18-13 but lost 2-6 to Mongolia’s Khaliun Byambasuren in the quarterfinals. Since her opponent advanced to the final, Nargiz will compete in a consolation match tomorrow against Canada’s Madisin Groff.

Ruzanna Mammadova (59 kg) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Poland’s Nikola Vasilevskaya with a pin and China’s Yifan Ju with a score of 4-0. However, she couldn’t overcome Japan’s Sakura Onishi in the semifinals, losing 0-10. Ruzanna’s opponent in the bronze medal match will be the winner of the bout between Yelena Kurova (AIN) and Komal Komal (India).
