Jala Aliyeva became the world champion!

The U-23 World Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

On the 4th day of the championship, the last two members of the women’s wrestling team competed.

Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) defeated Ukrainian Alina Filipovych in the 1/8 finals with a score of 7:4. In the next round, our compatriot left no chance for Turkish wrestler Sevim Akbas, winning 10:0. In the semifinals, Aliyeva overcame American Sofia Macalus by pinning her and advanced to the U-23 World Championship final for the second consecutive time. Jala faced Japanese wrestler Ruka Natami in the final. In a tense match against Natami, who was previously a world champion at the cadet and junior levels, Jala secured a 10:8 victory and became the world champion.

Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) started strong, defeating Kyrgyz wrestler Kalmira Bilimbekkyzy (4:1) in her debut match. However, she lost 1:7 to Estonian Viktoria Vesso in the quarterfinals.
