Hasrat Mammadjarov: “Our Results Will Improve Year by Year”

The U15 European Championship held in Caorle, Italy, has concluded, and the Azerbaijani girls’ wrestling team, which won 3 medals, has returned home.
With 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, and a total of 82 points, the team ranked 5th in the overall standings. This is the team’s best result in terms of the number of medals, their quality, total points, and final position.
Hasrat Mammadjarov, Head Coach:
“I evaluate this result as satisfactory. God willing, as our training camps continue, we can achieve even better results. I express my gratitude to the federation for the conditions provided during the preparation process for this tournament. We could have won more medals, but let’s not forget that most of the team members were competing in a major tournament for the first time. After the national championship, new girls were brought into the team. In my opinion, our results will improve year by year.”
Simura Abdullayeva, European Runner-up:
“I dedicate this victory to our martyrs and servicemen, especially on the occasion of June 26 – Armed Forces Day. I deeply thank my family, who worked hard for me, my personal coach Orkhan, and the national team coaches who supported me. God willing, I will prepare better for the upcoming competitions, achieve even better results, and proudly wave our flag.”
Maryam Amrali, European Bronze Medalist:
“We prepared very well for this competition. It was my first time participating in a European Championship, so I was a bit nervous. However, I tried not to let my nerves affect my performance. I expected to become a champion, but I won a bronze medal. Due to some mistakes, I couldn’t achieve the championship.”
Leyla Asgarova, European Bronze Medalist:
“I trained hard for this competition. Honestly, I expected to reach the finals and become a champion. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. This was my first European Championship, and I managed to secure third place. I’m very happy. First of all, I deeply thank my father because he brought me to this point. I also thank my personal coach Eshqin Hasanov, the national team coaches, Mariya Stadnik for her support, and my physical preparation coach Sanan. Each of them has contributed significantly to my success. God willing, I will not let their efforts go to waste. There are still many competitions ahead. I will prepare seriously and wave our flag with pride.”
