Gunay Gurbanova was 5th in the world championship

The U-20 World Wrestling Championship continues in Pontevedra, Spain.

On the 5th day of the championship, the women’s wrestling competition concluded.

Esmer Cankurtaran (53 kg) won by fall against Ukrainian Sofia Morchenko but lost in the quarterfinals to Jyoti Jyoti by the same method.

Gunay Gurbanova (62 kg) advanced to the quarterfinals after a dominant victory (16:5) over Swiss Annatina Lippuner. However, in this round, she was defeated by fall by Ukrainian Iryna Bondar. In the consolation match, Gunay won with a score of 8:2 against Yi Li from Chinese Taipei, but in the bronze medal match, she lost by fall to Mexican Melanie Jimenez, finishing the World Championship in 5th place.
