Girls Compete at European Championship

The U17 European Championship continues in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

The fourth day featured the women’s wrestling competition.

Nazrin Ahmedli (46 kg) narrowly defeated Greece’s Maria Gkika in the opening round with a 10:9 victory. However, in the quarterfinals, she was unable to overcome Russia’s Irina Tsidieva, losing 0:10.

Fatima Bayramova (53 kg) fell short in the qualification round, losing 2:6 to Poland’s Julia Gibalska.

Esra Mammadli (61 kg) claimed a convincing 8:2 victory over Romania’s Oana Dumitru in the qualification round. However, in the round of 16, she suffered a close 3:4 defeat to Belarus’ Varvara Aliseienka.

Fidan Babayeva (65 kg) triumphed 4:0 against Italy’s Giulia Carri in her first consolation bout but later lost 0:3 to Belarus’ Anastasia Komanava.

Milana Bagirzade (69 kg) faced a tough challenge in the round of 16, losing narrowly 2:3 to Georgia’s Anna Godelashvili.
