Fidan Babayeva to Compete in Repechage Round

The U17 European Championship continues in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

On the third day of the tournament, the women’s wrestling competition began.

Khadija Gurbanzada (49 kg) defeated Kosovo’s Elza Nikoci in her debut match on the criteria of the last point scored (1:1). However, in the round of 16, she was unable to overcome Italy’s Maria Caldiero, losing 1:5.

Ulviyya Musayeva (57 kg) faced Bulgaria’s Olga Popova in the first round but suffered a decisive defeat, losing 0:10.

Fidan Babayeva (65 kg) was pinned by Russia’s Liliya Yermokhina in the qualification round. As Yermokhina advanced to the final, Babayeva will compete in the repechage round tomorrow. Her opponent will be Italy’s Giulia Carri.
