Elis Manolova Retires from Wrestling

Elis Manolova, a member of the Azerbaijani women’s wrestling team, has announced her retirement from professional sports.
The experienced wrestler made a statement regarding her decision:
“When I look back, there have been so many competitions and medals that it’s impossible not to feel emotional. Of course, I would have liked to wrestle for another Olympic cycle. However, years of ongoing injuries make it impossible to continue. From now on, I want to pass on the experience I have gained to the younger generation as a coach. I am very happy to have wrestled for Azerbaijan. I consider Azerbaijan my second home. I have so many wonderful memories in this country. I will miss everyone. I will return to Baku again. I am grateful to the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation for accepting me into your ranks. I was proud to be a part of you. Raising the Azerbaijani flag was always a great honor. From now on, I will continue to support all Azerbaijani wrestlers.”
It should be noted that Elis, who retired at the age of 29, was the winner of the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games. Two years later, she became a European champion and a world bronze medalist. Throughout her career, Manolova won five medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze) in senior European championships.
The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation extends its gratitude to Elis Manolova for her contributions to women’s wrestling and her remarkable achievements and wishes her success in her coaching career.
