Aykhan Javadov reaches final at U20 European Championships

The U20 European Wrestling Championships continue in Caorle, Italy.

On the second day of the competition, Greco-Roman wrestlers in the 60 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg, 82 kg, and 97 kg weight categories took to the mat.

Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) delivered an impressive performance, defeating Levin Mayer (Switzerland, 8:0), Lucas Grasso (France, 9:1), and Omer Altas (Türkiye, 6:1) to advance to the semifinals. There, he overcame Vakhtang Loluashvili (Georgia, 4:1) and secured his place in the final. Aykhan will face Adam Silverin (Sweden) in the gold medal match.

In the same weight class, Faraim Mustafayev beat Pavel Aleksei (Romania, 1:1 – last point) and Dimitar Georgiev (Bulgaria, 10:1), but fell to Mingiyan Goryayev (Russia, 5:12) in the semifinals. He will compete for bronze.

Seymur Gasimov (72 kg) cruised through the early rounds, dominating Oliver Pada (Finland, 12:0) and Tamerlan Tarannukha (Russia, 11:0). However, he lost in the semifinals to Gaspar Terteryan (Armenia, 1:5) and will wrestle for bronze.

Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) claimed victories over Noah Walder (Austria, 9:0), Tornike Chkikvadze (Georgia, 7:1), and Martik Petrosyan (Armenia, 7:4). In the semifinal, he was defeated by Mikhail Shkarin (Russia, 1:4) and will compete for a bronze medal.

In the 97 kg division, Ismayil Rzayev was eliminated in the qualification round after a 2:10 loss to Saypula Gadzhimagomedov (Russia).
