AGF and UWW presidents meet in Baku

Nenad Lalović, the president of United World Wrestling (UWW), met with Mikayil Jabbarov, the president of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, in Baku.
The meeting was attended by Namiq Aliyev, a member of the UWW Bureau and Vice President of the AWF, as well as Gordon Templeman, the Director of Commercial Operations and Communications for UWW. They discussed the development of wrestling in Azerbaijan, grappling, pankration, professional MMA, and the first professional wrestling league to be organized by UWW.
Mikayil Jabbarov commented on the meeting:
“We were pleased to meet with UWW President Nenad Lalović. In our discussion, we addressed the steps being taken towards the development of wrestling in Azerbaijan, the nurturing of young talents, and the strengthening of cooperation to enhance our athletes’ international achievements. The inclusion of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation in the leadership of UWW’s newly established Grappling, Pankration, and Professional MMA Committee is an indication of the high level of trust in our country’s wrestling community.”
It should be noted that this year Azerbaijan hosted the European Olympic Qualification Tournament and the U23 European Championship, in addition to the European Championship in grappling.
