A seminar for wrestling coaches was held in Sabirabad

The republican seminar of wrestling coaches is coming to an end.

The next stage of the seminar was held today in Sabirabad city. Wrestling coaches working in Sabirabad, Imishli and Saatli districts participated in the event organized at the Olympic Sports Complex.

Opening the theoretical part of the seminar, Vugar Karimov, head of the sports department of the Mil-Mugan Regional Youth and Sports Department, said that the participation of experienced specialists working in national teams in this event played a major role in improving the knowledge and skills of coaches. Garib Aliyev, chairman of the Referees’ Board, spoke about the steps taken to improve the material and technical base and infrastructure in the places and about wrestling rules. Asgarkhan Novruzov, coach of the U-17 national freestyle wrestling team, drew attention to the activities of the wrestling section opened in the gymnasium located in the Mardakan settlement and emphasized that promising teenagers from this region can also be attracted to this educational institution. The coach of the U-20 national Greco-Roman wrestling team, Zohrab Abbasov, said that the excessive weight of young wrestlers hinders their development and makes it difficult for them to succeed in the transition to higher age groups. I-S category referee Sadi Guliyev commented on the controversial episodes against the background of the video footage.

In the practical part of the seminar, the coaches of the national teams underwent exemplary training. They demonstrated the execution of various tricks in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, as well as ways of attack and defense.

It should be noted that the final stage of the All-Republican seminar of wrestling coaches will be held in Baku on December 10.
