A Medal on the Final Day of the European Championships

The U17 European Wrestling Championships in Skopje, North Macedonia, has concluded.
Today, winners in the freestyle wrestling categories of 45kg, 51kg, 60kg, 71kg, and 92kg were determined.
Omar Usubov (45kg) faced Aren Piruzyan of Armenia in the bronze medal match but suffered a 2–12 defeat, finishing in fifth place.
Ramal Mirhuseynov (51kg) overcame Turkish wrestler Bugra Kavak in a hard-fought consolation bout, edging out a narrow 2–1 victory. In the bronze medal match, Mirhuseynov showcased his strength against Armenia’s Vahan Azaryan, triumphing 10–6.
Hasan Hasanov (60kg) reached the final, where he faced Zorab Aloyev of Ukraine in a tense battle. Despite a valiant effort, Hasanov narrowly lost 4–5, claiming the silver medal.
Said Pashayev (92kg) faced Abdurazak Shabanov of Russia in the decisive match. After a nail-biting contest, Pashayev emerged victorious with a 6–5 scoreline, securing the European champion title once again. Remarkably, Pashayev had claimed the same title last year in Greco-Roman wrestling, demonstrating his versatility by achieving the same feat this year in freestyle wrestling.
As a result, the Azerbaijani team concluded the European Championships with an impressive haul of 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Notably, Revan Hasanzade (48kg) and Ruslan Alizade (55kg) were crowned champions yesterday, while Hakim Taghıyev (110kg) secured third place.
