5 more medals won at the U23 European Championship

The U23 European Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

Today, the medalists in the 61, 74, 86, 92 and 125 kg freestyle wrestling categories were determined.

Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg) lost to Armenian Levik Mikayelyan 1:2 in the final and won the silver medal at the U23 European Championship.

Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) faced Russian Ismail Khaniev in the decisive match. Our compatriot, who fell behind 0:5 in the first half, became more active towards the end of the match. Novruzov, who managed to take 4 points from his opponent, lost by a minimal margin and rose to the second step of the podium.

Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) faced Frenchman Rakhim Magamadov in the final. Our representative, who dominated from the beginning to the end of the match, became the European champion with a 9:2 victory and sang our anthem in Tirana.

Sadiq Mustafazadeh (92 kg) faced Sandro Kurashvili of Georgia in a tense match for the bronze medal. Sadiq won 5:3 and took the bronze medal.

Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) eliminated Russian Artyom Pukhovsky in the consolation match in the afternoon session – 4:2. Our compatriot won by knockout over Turkish Efe Ala in the evening session and took third place.
