1 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals to Kick Off the European Championship

The U17 European Championship continues in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
The second day of competition saw the first medalists in Greco-Roman wrestling crowned.
Gurban Majnunov (48 kg) secured a bronze medal by defeating Greece’s Nikolaos Zinisan with a 4:1 score.
Nijat Yeylagaliev (80 kg) mirrored this success, earning a bronze medal with a commanding 10:0 technical superiority victory over Sweden’s Jens Abrahamsson.
In the final match of the day, Rihad Ibrahimli (110 kg) faced Bulgaria’s Denis Lazarov. After a narrow lead in the first period, the wrestler from Sumgait Wrestling School dominated the second period, claiming victory by fall (“tush”) to become the European Champion.
Thus, our national team begins the championship with one gold and two bronze medals.
