1 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal at the World Series

The second stage of the Beach Wrestling World Series was held this weekend in Poreč, Croatia.
The two-day tournament saw two Azerbaijani wrestlers competing under the guidance of head coach Oyan Nazariani.
Despite being a debutant, Vusal Aliyev (80 kg) had an impressive start. Competing in Group B, he defeated Oleksii Kharchuk from Ukraine and Miljan Rajic from Serbia with identical scores of 3-0, and Rodrick Love from the USA with a 4-0 score. Advancing to the semifinals as the group leader, Aliyev faced Vasyl Mykhailov of Ukraine but lost 0-2. In the bronze medal match, Vusal again faced Love and achieved a swift victory in just 13 seconds with a 3-0 score, earning third place on the podium in his debut competition.
Three-time world champion Ibrahim Yusubov (90 kg) showcased his dominance in Group A, defeating Léon Mayrand from France and Kevin Krem from Germany with 3-0 scores and overcoming Iran’s Saeid Largani with a 5-2 victory. Emerging as the group leader, Yusubov advanced to the semifinals, where he defeated Nazar Doda of Ukraine 3-0. In the final, Yusubov faced another Ukrainian wrestler, Oleksii Yakovchuk. In a closely contested match, the experienced Azerbaijani wrestler triumphed 3-2, claiming the gold medal.
It should be noted that the third stage of the World Series will take place on September 6-7 in Casablanca, Morocco.
