Mikayil Jabbarov
President
He was born in 1976 in Baku. He headed the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation in 2015-2021. During this period, the first international badminton tournament (2019) was held in Azerbaijan and a record number of participants was registered. Azerbaijani badminton players were represented for the first time in the sports history of our country in the inter-team European championship (2018, Russia), world championship (2021, Spain) and Olympic Games (Tokyo-2020).
M. Jabbarov was the president of Azerbaijan Fencing Federation in 2017-2021. During his tenure, Azerbaijan won the U-23 European Championship in saber in 2019, won a bronze medal in the World Junior Championship in epee, and won a bronze medal in the Junior World Championship in saber in 2021.
He is the president of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation since 2021. During this period, the Azerbaijani national team became the European champion in freestyle wrestling twice, and the European and world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling. Our teams in different age groups (U-15, U-17, U-20, U-23) are regularly in the top 3 in world and European championships. Currently, Azerbaijan has become one of the leading countries in world wrestling.
Namiq Aliyev
Vice President
Born in 1960 in Ganja, Namiq Aliyev graduated from the Faculty of Legal Psychology at Lomonosov Moscow State University from 1979 to 1983. Subsequently, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Scientific Research Institute of the USSR Prosecutor’s Office, earning a candidate of legal sciences degree. Between 1991 and 2004, he held various positions in the Republic Prosecutor’s Office. From 2004 to 2018, he served as the Deputy Minister of Taxes. Since 2007, he has been the Vice President of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation and has also been a member of the United World Wrestling since 2010.
During his tenure at AGF, Azerbaijan won 21 medals at the Olympic Games. Our national team became world champions in women’s and Greco-Roman wrestling. The freestyle wrestling team also secured second place several times. In 2009 in freestyle and in 2015 in Greco-Roman wrestling, our national team won the World Cup. Azerbaijan has successfully organized numerous international competitions, including the World Championship in 2007 and the European Championship in 2010, establishing itself as a significant member of the global wrestling community.
Namiq Abdullayev
Member of the Executive Committee
Born in 1971 in Baku, Namiq Abdullayev was a member of the national wrestling team in freestyle wrestling from 1990 to 2008. During this period, he achieved numerous successes, winning a silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and becoming an Olympic champion in Sydney four years later. In total, he won 10 medals at European and World Championships, including three gold medals at the European Championships (1994, 1995, 2003) and three silver medals at the World Championships (1994, 1998, 2002).
From 2009 to 2020, he served as the Vice President for Youth at the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF), and from 2020 to 2023, he worked as the head coach of the national freestyle wrestling team. Since April 9, 2022, he has been a member of the AGF Executive Committee. During his tenure as Vice President for Youth, Azerbaijani wrestlers in this age group won 97 medals at world championships and 146 medals at European championships. As the head coach, the freestyle wrestling team became the European champion in the team competition in 2022.
He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee.
Farid Mansurov
Member of the Executive Committee
Born in 1982 in the Dmanisi district of Georgia, Farid Mansurov was a member of the national Greco-Roman wrestling team from 1997 to 2010. In 2002, he won a silver medal at the World Championships, and two years later, he became an Olympic champion in Athens. He was also a world champion in 2007 and 2009. In 2010, due to an injury sustained at the European Championship held in Baku, he concluded his career.
From 2010 to 2011, he served as the head coach of the national Greco-Roman wrestling team. From 2011 to 2016, he was the Vice President for Youth at the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF). Between 2016 and 2021, he worked as the Director of the Youth and Sports Ministry’s Sports Department. Since December 8, 2021, he has been the Vice-Rector at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport. Since April 9, 2022, he has been a member of the AGF Executive Committee. He is also a member of the National Olympic Committee.
During his tenure as the head coach, the team won 3 gold and 5 bronze medals in prestigious competitions. The team achieved second place in Europe and third place in the world in the team competition. As the Vice President for Youth, the U-20 age group won 70 medals at the world championships and 74 medals at the European championships.
Vasif Mammadov
Member of the Executive Committee
Vasif Mammadov graduated from the Faculty of International Law at Baku State University (1996-2000) and the Faculty of International Relations and Management at Azerbaijan State Economic University (2001-2005). He has worked in various companies, including the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. He served as the head of the extracurricular education department at the Ministry of Education. Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Director General at the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (ITV).
Since April 2022, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
Nasimi Musayev
Chief Secretary
Born in 1978 in the Bolnisi region of Georgia, Nasimi Musayev received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the economics and management of the machine-building industry from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy from 1995 to 2001. Over the years, he has worked at various institutions, including the Heydar Aliyev Military Academy, the Ministry of Transport and Information Technologies, “AzInTelecom Sport” LLC, and the Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University. In the field of sports, he has been actively involved in various roles at the “Rabitə” volleyball club, the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation, the “Sabah” Professional Sports Club, and the “Vətən” Youth Football School. Since April 15, 2022, he has been serving as the Chief Secretary of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
During this period, our national team in freestyle wrestling has consecutively become the European champion for two years, while our Greco-Roman wrestling team has become the champion in Europe and the world. Azerbaijan wrestling has maintained a leading position in various multi-sport competitions in terms of the number and quality of medals. In 2022, the World Cup in Baku was organized at a high level. As a result, the organization of the 2024 U-23 European Championship and the European Olympic Qualification Tournament has been entrusted to our country.
