The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) continues its activities to improve the material and technical base and infrastructure.
The wrestling section of the “Lokomotiv” Sports Society located in the Bilajari settlement of Baku was also provided with the necessary inventory and material and technical support by the AWF. Representatives of the Federation got acquainted with the conditions created in the section with rich wrestling traditions. AWF Executive Committee member, Olympic and 3-time European champion Namig Abdullayev, senior coach of the U-20 national freestyle wrestling team, the first world champion in the history of our independence Arif Abdullayev, coach of the U-20 national Greco-Roman wrestling team, Olympic medalist Emin Ahmadov, and AWF regional coordinator Elfag Safarov spoke. They recalled the wrestling traditions of “Lokomotiv” and expressed their belief that after the support of the federation, this school will again produce winners and prize-winners of prestigious competitions.
Currently, under the leadership of coaches Fuad Aydinli, Amil Mammadov, Ibrahim Hadiyev and Habib Nurulu, more than 150 athletes of all age groups in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling are active in the wrestling section of “Lokomotiv”.
It should be noted that the graduates of this school, Zaur Aliyev, Tural Ahmadov, Asmar Jankurtaran, Fatima Bayramova, Khudayar Karimov, Elshad Abbasov, Nihat Maharramov and Gulnar Agadadashova, have become winners and prize-winners of prestigious competitions.
