The World Wrestling Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, has concluded.
Over the last two days, the freestyle wrestlers competed in the World Championship.
Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg) struggled in his debut match, losing to Turkey’s Ahmet Duman – 4:14. Since his opponent advanced to the final, Novruzov continued in the consolation rounds. He won decisively against both Peter Kudey of Costa Rica (14:4) and Jozef Silva from Puerto Rico (17:6). Nureddin lost by fall in the bronze medal match to Tsoqbadrax Tseveensuren from Mongolia and finished in 5th place.
Kenan Heybetov (70 kg) easily defeated India’s Manish Goswami – 10:0, in the first round. However, in the 1/8 final, he was unable to resist Russia’s Inalbek Sheriyev, losing – 2:13.
Orkhan Abasov (79 kg) won his 1/16 final match against Armenia’s Arman Avagyan – 4:0. In the next round, Abasov lost to Russia’s Magomed Magomedov – 1:7. Although Magomedov advanced to the final, Orkhan had a close contest in the consolation round but lost to Mongolia’s Suldkhuu Olonbayar – 4:5.
Abubakr Abakarov (92 kg) won his qualification match against Macedonia’s Recep Haydari – 0:10. However, Abakarov was unable to fulfill his hopes of victory in consecutive matches against two title-winning opponents. In the 1/8 final, he lost to Russia’s Abdulrashid Sadulaev and in the consolation round, he was defeated by America’s David Taylor, both with the same score – 1:3.
